Two illegal immigrants have been arrested and charged with kidnapping a 16-year-old Wisconsin girl who was found more than 1,200 miles from her home during a traffic stop in Wyoming.

Wyoming State Patrol troopers stopped a vehicle in Sinclair, Wyoming, on November 24 and discovered the missing teenager inside the car along with two adult men identified as 22-year-old Alexcer Solis Gomez and 33-year-old Pedro Giron Perez. The girl had been reported missing by her family the previous day after she failed to show up to work in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.

According to a report by WISN, Solis Gomez and Giron Perez told detectives they were paid $1,500 to pick up the teenager from her father’s residence in Two Rivers and transport her to California.

A witness told police the teen had sent a text message stating she was “on the road” and that it “was for the safety of her family.” The same witness also told investigators that the girl’s boyfriend “had become involved with the cartel" and that the teen "woke up to an airdropped photo with a gun pointed at the residence she was staying at."

During a search of the teenager’s bedroom, detectives said they found a handwritten note outlining plans for how she would be “discreetly taken from the custody of her father.”

Solis Gomez and Giron Perez were taken into custody in Wyoming and have been charged with kidnapping and interference with parental custody.
