UC Irvine prof says someone should 'do the funniest thing' as Nick Shirley speaks at Harvard 'before the Kirkiversary'

A left-wing professor at the University of California (UC) at Irvine who also lectures at Chapman University insinuated that it would be the "funniest thing" if someone were to kill journalist Nick Shirley at Harvard "before the Kirkiversary."

Shirley will be visiting Harvard's Republican Club on Wednesday, and in a post to the Republican Club page, UC Irvine professor Matt Goldman commented, "Someone can do the funniest thing just before the Kirkiversary." Thursday will mark one year since Kirk was fatally shot while holding an event at Utah Valley University.

"We have people in our comments section openly insinuating that Nick Shirley should be assassinated when he speaks to us. The young right will never back down from exposing the third world fraud in our nation," the Harvard Republican Club said in a post to X on Tuesday with a screenshot of the comment from Goldman.

In another comment, Goldman wrote, "lmao abolish ICE, only good ICE agent is a dead one."

Additionally, as first reported by Not The Bee, Goldman had a post on his profile that indicates he celebrated the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The post has a picture of the cartoon character Luigi holding a gun up to the head of someone who appeared to be Thompson, and it was posted just five days after the shooting of Thompson in 2024. Luigi Mangione has pleaded guilty in the killing of Thompson.



Spencer Pratt said of the situation, "UC Irvine lecturer teases killing Nick Shirley ahead of the anniversary of the assassination of Charlie Kirk. We have a communist violence problem. Right on the heels of the UCSB communist professor encouraging students to train with weapons for violent revolution. Our universities have been completely infected with violent communists who are pumping this insanity into the soft heads of your children. These violent animals are not redeemable. Their minds are gone. Clearly 'UC' now stands for 'Unhinged Communists.'"

Shirley will be giving a speech on Wednesday about waste, fraud, and abuse in government.
