Former Trump nominee for top prosecutor in Washington, DC Ed Martin was spat on by a woman passing by as he was in the middle of an interview with Newsmax. The US Marshal service has reportedly identified the woman and will be arresting her.
Daily Caller reporter Vince Coglianese reported, “Ed Martin tells me the US Marshalls do know who the woman is who spit on him yesterday during a Newsmax appearance. And if they haven't already, they will be making an arrest. Also, she clearly ID'd him as ‘Ed Martin,’ leaving no doubt that she was targeting a federal official.”
Martin was speaking to reporters at Newsmax when the incident occurred. While he was midsentence, a woman passing by walked up and said in anger, "You are Ed Martin."
In the clip, Martin asked, "How are you doing?" And she was then seen hurling the loogie at Martin. The woman then shouted out, "You are a disgusting man," before storming while walking her small dog.
The footage has been viewed by millions online, with many who have ripped into the woman for being a "psychotic lib" as well as a "feral leftist."
Some also alleged that the woman is guilty of assault and needs to face legal consequences and prosecution. The incident occurred some hours after Trump said that he would not be nominating Martin to be the federal prosecutor in Washington, DC. His nomination was pulled after Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) signaled he would not be voting in favor of Martin.
Tillis cited concerns related to Martin's work on January 6 cases. "I have no tolerance for anybody that entered the building on Jan. 6, and that’s probably where most of the friction was," Tillis said of the cases. Democrats also said that they would not be in support of Martin.
After Trump pulled Martin's nomination, he appointed him to a new role as the Director of the Weaponization Working Group at the Department of Justice.
"Ed Martin has done an AMAZING job as interim U.S. Attorney, and will be moving to the Department of Justice as the new Director of the Weaponization Working Group, Associate Deputy Attorney General, and Pardon Attorney. In these highly important roles, Ed will make sure we finally investigate the Weaponization of our Government under the Biden Regime, and provide much needed Justice for its victims. Congratulations Ed!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.
