The University of Toronto's Scarborough campus has banned ordering from kosher restaurants that support the state of Israel, according to the Jerusalem Post.

The student union passed this motion on Wednesday, saying they do not want to deal with restaurants that "normalize Israeli apartheid."

Jewish students reportedly fear that they won't be able to adhere to religious rituals such as keeping kosher. This is largely due to the definition of the terms of the ban being grossly unclear.

"Even for something as simple as ordering jelly donuts for Hanukkah, Jewish students at SCSU will now be forced to prove that kosher caterers do not support their Jewish homeland, which is basically impossible," said a student at the university.

A Hasbara Fellow at the university has called for the union executive to "take immediate steps to reverse this shameful resolution."

Another Jewish student organization said that "it is only Jews who are subjected to the anti-Israel litmus test- in this case just in order to eat."

Recently, the 700,000-strong Canadian Union of Public Employees strongly rejected BDS sanctions by a 68 percent to 32 percent margin on Thursday.

"Whether the SCSU likes it or not, Israel is an essential part of Jewish identity," said the executive director of Hasbara Canada. "They do not have the right to tell Jewish students how to practice Judaism on campus."
