Utah anti-ICE group members praise call to 'be a hero, shoot Trump' in Discord group: report

"Be a hero, shoot Trump."

"Be a hero, shoot Trump."

Screenshots of a Discord group chat belonging to the anti-ICE group "People of Provo Against ICE" (POPAI) in Provo, Utah showed members of the group praising the phrase "Be a hero, shoot Trump," according to a report from The Cougar Chronicle

The screenshots of the messages showed USPS postage stamps emblazoned with the phrasing "Be a hero, shoot Trump," sent by a user with the name "Heckybara." Another user on the Discord chat replied to the call to "shoot Trump" positively, calling it "definitely cool."

"Those are definitely cool and you should 100% put them up but if people are gonna make POPAI specific ones try not to make threats. But those are sick af," the Discord user on the chat "Venna" replied.

The chat was the "welcome room" for POPAI, or the chat where people were getting invited to assist in the anti-ICE organization's activism. The group, which links its Discord group on its Instagram page, has over 500 followers on the social media platform and 64 members in the Discord group. Many of the posts from POPAI rail against ICE and have called for anti-ICE rallies in Utah.

Multiple posts from the Instagram page are also collaborative posts with the Utah County chapter of Indivisible, a left-wing activist group which has been fueled by millions of dollars in funds from George Soros.

The anti-ICE group describes their page as a group of activists "working to stop ICE activity in Provo through any legal means," and they have weekly meetings.
