Newly released video has revealed Thomas Matthew Crooks, the man who attempted to assassinate Trump at a Pennsylvania campaign stop in July 2024, appearing to dry-fire a handgun in his home.

The clips, obtained by Candace Owens and released on her podcast Wednesday, pictured Crooks showing off a gun on a bed before turning the camera around and assuming a shooting stance. He is heard pulling the trigger on the unloaded weapon.

Owens said the videos and other parts on Crooks’ online history had been scraped from the internet, and his online history showed "he was extremely violent. He was always calling for violence."

A separate clip showed Crooks shooting in a similar fashion in the bedroom. On the wall behind Crooks appeared to be sheets of target paper with blue circles.

Crooks, 20, shot down at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania from a nearby rooftop at the fairgrounds where the event was taking place on July 13, 2024. Trump was struck in the ear, while audience member and firefighter Corey Comperatore was shot and killed. Crooks was shot and killed.

The month following the shooting, the FBI released information related to Crooks’ online search history, which revealed that he had been searching online for explosive devices, including "how to make a bomb from fertilizer" and "how do remote detonators work." The searches began as early as September 2019. Crooks had also searched for campaign events for both Trump and then-President Joe Biden, who later dropped out of his reelection campaign.

Crooks had also searched, just one week before the shooting, "how far away was Oswald from Kennedy," referring to the assassination of President John F Kennedy. Crooks also searched for information related to Ethan Crumbley, who shot and killed four classmates as well as wounded six others at Michigan's Oxford High School in 2021.

Additional online activity included comments allegedly left by Crooks on YouTube, Owens said. One October 2019 comment claimed he believed "being patriotic was lining up a bunch of socialist jews (like the ones that booed trump) and blasting their useless brains out with an AR." Another comment, left in July 2019, stated, "everyone of the Trump hating democrats deserve to have their heads chopped [off] and put on steaks for the world to see what happens when you f*ck with America."
