An illegal immigrant who has been arrested in connection to child sex trafficking was previously arrested and charged in New York for attempted murder but was released after law enforcement ignored an ICE detainer request.

27-year-old Venezuelan national Enyerbert Alberto Blanco was initially arrested by NYPD in October 2023 on charges including attempted murder, criminal firearm use, and reckless endangerment. However, authorities reportedly did not honor ICE’s detainer request, resulting in his release.

The Daily Caller reported that Bronx County District Attorney Darcel Clark, where Blanco faced attempted murder charges, has “pioneered alternative to incarceration initiatives.” She has also worked with a nonprofit organization that advocates for “community-based alternatives to jail.”

After being released by New York officials, Blanco was later detained on October 18 in Florida, alongside a Colombian woman also in the US illegally, in connection to a child sex trafficking case. Authorities allege the two trafficked a 15-year-old girl, forcing her into prostitution. The missing girl was found in a hotel room which included lingerie, condoms, cash, and multiple phones.

In response to Blanco’s revealed history. Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw criticized NYPD for releasing him. “How can he be out on bond for an attempted murder out of New York?” Bradshaw asked. “That’s unconscionable!”

“But I can tell you one thing, folks. That female and this guy here that was involved in this, their butts are staying in my jail,” Bradshaw added. “They’re not coming out!”

The sheriff’s office also noted Blanco is suspected of being affiliated with the Venezuela gang Tren de Aragua due to tattoos on his body that indicate gang affiliation.
