On Tuesday, FOX News' Peter Doocy asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about the Biden administration's top domestic priority.

Despite the president recently stating that his first bill of the new year would be related to abortion, Jean-Pierre repeatedly claimed that the economy was priority number one for Biden.

"What is President Biden's top domestic priority now?" Doocy asked. "Is it inflation or is it abortion?"

"The president is gonna continue talking about issues that matter to the American people," Jean-Pierre replied, "and abortion is one of them." She pointed out that a majority of people in the US were opposed to the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

"When it comes to the economy," she continued, "the president has made it very very clear; when it comes to inflation, it is his number one economic priority, and he is doing everything that he can to make sure that we lower prices."

"You said it's his 'number one economic priority'," Doocy shot back. "We've heard the president say inflation is his top domestic priority, now he's saying come next year, his first bill would be abortion related. Is his number one domestic priority abortion or is it inflation?"

Jean-Pierre pivoted, pointing to what Biden has done over the last nineteen months to make the economy his top priority. She highlighted the American Rescue Plan, the bipartisan infrastructure bill, and the Inflation Reduction Act, which contrary to its name has been deemed by Republicans and even Bernie Sanders to not actually do what's needed to fight inflation.

"He is working on the economy every day," Jean-Pierre concluded.

"Bloomberg economists are forecasting a 100 percent chance of a recession," Doocy countered. "So how is it that we can be barreling towards a recession, and the economy is, as the president says, 'strong as hell'?"

Jean-Pierre cast doubt on the prediction, calling the economy "resilient," and suggesting that things are on the mend.

Doocy was not the only reporter asking about Biden's priorities. CBS' Steven Portnoy also questioned whether the president would put abortion at the top of his legislation list in the new year.
