New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo spoke on Monday about how we need to treat gun violence like a "public health issue", using his state's COVID response as an example, despite the many scandals surrounding it.
"Treat it like a public health issue," says Cuomo in the video. He goes on, "we know how to deal with an epidemic."
"What we wanna say is, we wanna deal with gun violence what we just did with COVID. That's what we want."

While Cuomo talks about his strategy, to his right, a graph can be seen showing the COVID "curve" for Cuomo's New York State.
Cuomo's critics are not exactly enthused about his suggestion, considering the Governor's record in responding to the pandemic. Cuomo issued orders that transferred COVID positive patients to nursing homes.
One nursing home director went on record told Cuomo this was a mistake, but appears to have been ignored, leading to at least 15,000 confirmed deaths in nursing homes during that period, many of them potentially unavoidable.
NYC mayoral candidate, ex-Captain of the NYPD and current Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams talked during an interview with CBS about his dissatisfaction with Cuomo, a fellow Democrat:
"My first question is, what took so long? And why has it taken us so long, watching these babies die, year after year after year? No one seems to care."
".... When you look at the Democratic party and you do an analysis, you find very few people have ever been part of law enforcement. We have demonized public protection in this city and in this country because we have too many abusive officers who are allowed to stay in our agencies, but at the same time we have ignored the problems that fed violence in our country."
