A Texas mother's impressive tackle caught on video is earning her praise across the internet, and some are jokingly saying she should try out for the NFL, according to local news.

On January 31, Phyllis Pena was returning to her Lake Jackson home at about 7 am when she saw a man peeking through a window of her home into her 15-year-old daughter's room.

Police arrived to the scene shortly after Pena called, and the man attempted to flee. That's when Pena got herself into position to make a tackle. The tackle was captured on the officer's dashcam.

Pena said that her "First instinct was just to make sure he didn't go any further." Pena's daughter was reportedly not in her bedroom at the time.

The man was identified by officers as Zane Hawkins, and it was when he was attempting to flee from police that Pena got into position and took him down. Her daughter helped her restrain the man until officers were able to make the arrest.

"The cop fist-bumped me and he was like, "Hey, so I heard the Texans are looking for a new linebacker,'" Pena told local news outlet KPRC.

"My kids are my life and just making sure I protect them," Pena said.

Hawkins was not unknown to the family, but they said that they did not know him personally.

Sgt. Roy Welch said that Hawkins faces charges of possession of a controlled substance as well as evading and resisting arrest.

Welch said that "It's not very often that we have somebody that actually steps in, puts themself in harm's way to assist in apprehending somebody."
