"Mark Hamill is one sick individual."
The White House's Rapid Response account wrote, "Mark Hamill is one sick individual. These Radical Left lunatics just can’t help themselves. This kind of rhetoric is exactly what has inspired three assassination attempts in two years against our President."
Hamill said in the post, which received heavy backlash, "He should live long enough to witness his inevitable devastating loss in the midterms, be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption, impeached, convicted & humiliated for his countless crimes. Long enough to realize he'll be disgraced in the history books, forevermore. #don_TheCON."
The post spread online with Republicans pointing to Hamill suggesting violence be made against the president. This has come after Trump has been the subject of multiple assassination attempts, including an attempt made on Trump's life on April 25, where would-be assassin Cole Allen charged through a security checkpoint at the White House Correspondents' Dinner with a rifle.
At the time, Cole was stopped by Secret Security agents and subdued. Trump was also shot by Thomas Matthew Crooks on the campaign in 2024 while hosting a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Ryan Routh, another would-be assassin, tried to kill Trump while he was at his Florida golf course just months after the Butler incident.
Hamill has been a frequent critic of Trump and even gave his wife an ultimatum that they needed to move to England if Trump won the 2024 election, before she talked him out of it.
