It's no secret that remaining upright is not Joe Biden's forte. In the years since taking office, he has repeatedly struggled to maneuver up and down stairs, across stages, and along pathways, and because he's the president, it's always caught on video.

In an effort to prevent future stumbles that could distract from Biden's reelection campaign, staffers have been working hard to ensure he is physically fit and has the proper equipment.

According to Axios, since June the president has decided on numerous occasions to ditch dress shoes in favor of more sturdy tennis shoes, with his team hoping the criticism he faces for his choice of footwear will be worth the decreased risk of him taking a spill.

In addition to changing what he wears, Biden has also taken to working out with physical therapist Drew Contreras, with many of the exercises focused on balance.

White House Spokesperson Andrew Bates said Biden's fitness was "proactively and transparently disclosed in a 2021 report from the president's doctor," adding that it was reported again this year. He went on to slam the media for "attempting to sensationalize" Biden's falls.

The president's physical struggles highlight a larger issue impacting his chances of reelection, his age. Many voters continue to cite the fact that he is an octagenarian as their top concern, with some questioning whether he has it in him to complete his current term, let alone another one.

Some of Biden's more memorable tumbles include the times he tripped on a sandbag at the Air Force Academy, fell off his bike in Delaware, and stumbled up the long stairway to Air Force One.

In recent weeks, Biden has begun using the shorter stairs while boarding the presidential plane, however, even that has not completely eliminated the possibility of a fall.
