Following Tucker Carlson revealing previously unseen footage of the January 6 Capitol riot on Monday evening, The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg suggested that the Fox News host was Orwellian for releasing the footage.
"Tucker Carlson took a page from George Orwell’s 1984 and told his viewers to reject the evidence of their eyes and ears," said Goldberg on Tuesday.
"You know, I don’t know what he’s playing at, but people saw what they saw, they saw what they saw. And they’ve seen what’s gone down with it, and no matter what, you can’t put this monkey back in the cage," she added.
On Monday evening, Carlson aired footage of the January 6, 2021 riot at the capitol building, which showed QAnon Shaman Jacob Chansley, who was sentenced to four years in prison, being escorted through the Capitol building by police officers.
The footage also showed Ray Epps, who testified to Congress about a text he sent his nephew earlier that day in which Epps claimed he was heading back to his hotel, but was seen 30 minutes later in footage on Capitol grounds, going against his testimony.
Officer Brian Sicknick, who died in the wake of the riot and whose death was ruled to be from natural causes, was seen walking around the Capitol on January 6, appearing "healthy and vigorous," according to Carlson.
Sicknick was seen wearing a helmet, contradicting previous claims that the officer died from a head injury.
