Windsor Regional Hospital had to use refrigerated trailers to store bodies as their system is once again is overwhelmed beyond their normal morgue capacity.

Fortunately, they already had a trailer ready to go on the premises this time, which was last used in April. Although, the first wave wasn't as serious in Windsor-Essex as in the rest of the province.

According to the Windsor Star, the hospital is breaking new records for daily deaths, with 17 people having died inside the facility on Wednesday of the novel coronavirus, for example.

David Musyj, the CEO of the hospital, stated the following:

"The next few weeks, months, are going to be literal hell and we have to be ready for it. We’re getting as ready as we can. Our strategy all along is, you plan for the worst, pray for the best, and be ready for everything in between. That’s what we’ve been doing from Day 1."

Musyj continued, "Any type of mass casualty or pandemic, you need to be ready for an influx of deaths."

"We immediately identified we needed some on-site temporary space, as well as some off-site backup to that. I hope that we never have to get to the hockey rink [adjacent to the hospital] for that purpose, but we shall see as the next few weeks unfold."

In Windsor-Essex to date, 1107 people have died of the novel coronavirus, and 58 of those deaths have unfortunately occurred within the past week's time, representing a large surge in deaths.
