A woman was found unconscious on a Brampton trail on Wednesday evening; she had obviously been the victim of an attack. She was later pronounced dead at the scene, and her husband charged with allegedly murdering her.

Peel Regional Police have said that they received a 9 pm call from a third party who was just passing by, who had discovered the victim while walking on the same trail.

According to CTV News, officers arrived on the scene to find the victim, aged 64 years and later identified as Dalbir Randhawa of Brampton, showing signs of obvious trauma. Efforts by first responders to save her life were in vain.

Jarnail Randhawa, the victim's spouse, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the incident, and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

Danny Marttini, a spokesperson for Peel Regional Police, said the following during a press conference:

"So it actually appears that the couple went for a walk earlier that evening, and obviously failed to return. Some circumstances must have unfolded which caused this altercation to go to this level in which it appears that he took her life,"

"Things can happen very quickly in a heated moment or you know what we say when some people are passionate, when hearts are involved. It's a very sad circumstance right now."
