A woman, 20, was walking alone in Manhattan's West Village on Sunday when she was assaulted by a man who claimed to have just been released from prison.

The man said that he was armed before he sexually assaulted the woman, near Barrow and Greenwich Streets at about 2:30 am. She had left her friend at a bus stop at West 14th Street and Eighth Avenue, before continuing on her own.

The man allegedly pushed her to the ground, according to the New York Post, and the victim reports that he said "I have a gun, take your clothes off."

He told her that he "just got out of jail," and reached under the woman's clothes, touching her in a sexually aggressive manner.

A video shows the man, wearing a ball cap, smoking a cigarette, and wearing an Adidas t-shirt. He reportedly fled the scene going east on Barrow Street.

The victim was evaluated at Mount Sinai Beth Israel.
