A woman who stole $2.4 million from the Ontario Minor Hockey Association has been sentenced to 2 years in jail for her crime.
After receiving a report from the Ontario Minor Hockey Association surrounding missing funds in November 2018, York Regional Police opened an investigation into the matter.
The investigation discovered that then director of finance Jennifer Guertin stole $2.4 million during her time with the association. She was charged in 2019.
Guertin pleaded guilty on September 29, 2021 to theft over $5,000, breach of trust, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 (x2), and unauthorized use of a computer with intent to commit an offence.
She was subsequently sentenced to 2 years in jail, and ordered to pay $100,000 to the OMHA.
