"They got so offended by freedom that they just tried killin' the president."
"You Missed" quickly rose on the iTunes charts and hit the top spot as Americans reeled from the assissination attempt. No president, current or past, has seen that kind of targeted violence against them since Ronald Reagan. The closest incident after that was when someone threw a shoe at George W. Bush during an overseas press conference during his adminstration in the wake of September 11, 2001.
The music video on YouTube was trending at the seventh spot for music on the streaming platform. "The events that took place yesterday are a horrifying example of political extremism in America. During a rally, shots were fired in an attempt on Donald Trump's life," reads the text at the top of the video.
"They missed" appears in red text as MacDonald starts the rapping the lyrics to the song, rapping, "They burnin' the country down with their progressiveness. It started with changing what gender is. Then graduated to you’re racist if you think that your life matters and your skin don’t have melanin." MacDonald recently released "Me vs You" depicting anger between political factions.
"They don’t want peace, they want skeletons," MacDonald's lyrics go. "They want men to pretend that they're feminine. They don’t want an election, they got so offended by freedom that they just tried killin' the president."
"I used to think that thе woke were misguidеd, but now I can see that they’re evil. Twitter is angry that Trump isn’t dead, you know who got shot? Innocent people," MacDonald adds, referring to 50-year-old Corey Comperatore, who was shot and killed during the assassination attempt, and the others who were wounded as a result of the gunfire. "One job" as well as "How do you miss" were trending on X after the assassination attempt.
"Thought y’all were tolerant? Thought we were equals? I thought you valued how everyone feels? Then why are y'all celebrating an attempted assassination like you’re part of Antifa?" MacDonald adds to the song. He then breaks into the pre-chorus portion of the song. "Thank God the left can’t aim. Thank God the right don’t riot. Welcome to the home of the brave. Freedom ain’t afraid of violence. You wish he was dying."
