Three people have claimed that they were assaulted during a seminar on "Strategic Lessons from the Palestinian Resistance" in Asheville, North Carolina. Monica Buckley, who is Jewish, was livestreaming the event when other attendees grabbed her phone and allegedly attacked her. David Moritz, a fellow Jew, and Bob Campbell, an elderly Navy veteran battling cancer, were also attacked when they stepped in to help.

The trio suffered various injuries, from which they are recovering. A report was filed with the Asheville Police, and one suspect was arrested. Taylor Danielle Zarkin, 35, was subsequently charged with two counts of "resisting, delay, and obstruct."

According to WPDE, the incident took place at the "Another Carolina Anarchist Bookfair" on Saturday, June 29. Moritz and Buckley had chosen to attend in order to better understand what pro-Palestinian activists were teaching members of their community, with the latter feeling it was best to livestream the event.

About half an hour after they arrived, someone noticed Buckley was livestreaming and alerted the rest of the room. Others stepped in and tried to grab her phone, and the situation devolved into chaos.

"I was just sitting there recording the people who were surrounding us, and a woman grabbed the phone and started running towards the door," she told the outlet. "I jumped on her to get my phone back. There was a swarm of dozens of people that attacked me, and then Bob and David came to try to help me and then they were swarmed and attacked also. They were hitting me, punching me, punching my wrists, stomping on my ankles. Somebody choked me with something."

Moritz explained that when they saw Buckley was being attacked, "Bob and I both got up to defend her, but it was just such a mob of people, they just started punching me. I had bruises on my head; I was fighting back, I kicked some people."

As WPDE reports, none of the nearly two dozen attendees called police, however, a number of those watching the livestream and a librarian dialed 911. Zarkin was taken into custody a short time later, however the investigation is ongoing.
