Police have been able to identify three suspects in the Friday night shooting in Concord, North Carolina, that took place as a Christmas tree lighting ceremony was taking place. In total, four people were sent to the hospital from the shooting.

Authorities have said that it was not a random act of violence, but the shooting took place between two people who knew each other, and disrupted the town celebration at around 7:30 pm, per WCNC Charlotte.

"A night of celebration for our community was interrupted by senseless violence, affecting everyone who was there," Concord Police Chief Jimmy Hughes said. "Our community showed great strength and resilience as everyone came together to help one another and our officers."

18-year-old Nasir Ahma Bostic has been identified as one of the shooters in the incident and remains in the hospital in critical condition. Bostic is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with the intent to kill as well as inciting a riot. 17-year-old Keyvyonn Rayshaund Bostic has also been charged as an adult with accessory after the fact and inciting the riot. A juvenile suspect has also been charged in the shooting with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, two counts of discharging into an occupied property inflicting serious injury. The juvenile was also shot during the incident. Two other 17-year-olds were sent to the hospital from the shooting.

Concord Mayor Bill Dusch has said that the city will go on with the Christmas Parade, saying that the community should not allow for "the senseless actions of a few individuals steal another tradition."

"We are a close-knit community with a proud history. The Concord Christmas Parade is and always has been one of our most beloved traditions," Dusch said in a statement.

“We are a resilient community and will not let the senseless actions of a few individuals steal another tradition from us. Some families may choose to stay home and we understand and respect their decision. We also know that many find comfort, harmony, and healing in community and our parade has provided that for our City for nearly a century. For this reason, we are continuing with the 97th Concord Christmas Parade as planned today at 2:30 p.m. The Santa Scramble 5K is also continuing as scheduled.

"We remain committed to providing a safe and welcoming experience for everyone who attends. Additional security measures will be in place throughout the event," he added.
