Five people have been charged for their involvement in a violent assault in Cincinnati over the weekend, during which two people were seen being brutally assaulted.

Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge said in a Monday press conference that five people have been charged for their involvement, though she said their names would not be released.  Police sources told Fox News that authorities are trying to identify at least eight more people.

Theetge told reporters that there were around 100 people at the scene of the brawl, either involved in it, watching it, or filming the attack, and only one of those people called 911. By the time police arrived, the fight was already over.

"That is unacceptable to not call the police. Traffic was horrendous. People saw this. They were fighting in front of traffic. Why didn't people call us," she said.

White House spokesman Harrison Fields said in a statement to Fox News, "Engaging in this level of barbaric violence is unacceptable, and those responsible must face the full weight of the justice system."

"Restoring safety to America’s communities is a cornerstone of the President’s Make America Safe Again agenda. As a result, we’ve seen crime levels plummet under President Trump’s leadership, which has secured the border, empowered our law enforcement, and taken dangerous criminals off our streets."

Footage taken at the scene showed a man being repeatedly punched and kicked by multiple people. A woman who later went to check on the injured man was grabbed from behind by another woman, punched in the face, and hit the pavement. She appeared to lose consciousness and was seen bleeding from the mouth.

Theetge said in a statement on Saturday, "I am in complete disgust waking up to the viral video many of you have now seen. The behavior displayed is nothing short of cruel and absolutely unacceptable. Our investigative team is working diligently to identify every individual involved in causing harm. It’s also important to clarify: this was a sudden dispute between individuals following a verbal altercation."

Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said that he had spoken with the woman injured, whose name is Holly. "he’s a single working mom who went to a friend’s birthday party. It’s unconscionable that there were no police present in that area of Cincinnati on a Friday night, or even an ambulance to take her to the hospital."

"Hard-working Americans shouldn’t have to worry for their safety when they have a good time in our cities. Holly said not a single local or state official had yet reached out as of earlier this afternoon, other than one police detective. Leftists like to lecture about ‘systemic injustice’ while thugs turn our turn cities into war zones. I’m done with their excuses. As governor, I’ll make sure they’re behind bars, not running wild. Our cops will have the green light to restore order—no apologies.

"Holly appreciates the kind words and prayers from patriots across the country, and hopes that the publicity around her story ensures that local & state leaders clean up our failing cities. We hope to visit Holly soon as she recovers."
