President Donald Trump held a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, in which he said that himself as well as First Lady Melania Trump would be visiting Texas on Friday following the devastating floods that struck the state last week on July 4 in the Country Hills region.

Trump was speaking with Department of Homeland Secuity Secretary Kristi Noem, talking about the job that she and others had done to rescue people from the floods.

"The response has been incredible, and the fact that we got along so well, I don't even think that's a political thing, but we got along so well, and it was so unified. I think a lot of lives have been saying that could have been as bad as it was, and you're going to lose double or triple, this thing was just really horrible. Well, congratulations on the job. I'll be going down on Friday with the First Lady, we'll be taking a trip," Trump said.

"We don't want to get in anyone's way, because that's what happens, the president goes and everyone's focused on them, I don't want anyone to focus on us," he added.

The announcement comes after he said earlier this week that he would likely be visiting the area ravaged by the floods. The death count in the flood has risen above 100 people and others are still missing.

Noem detailed what DHS was able to do to help those who were on the ground in Texas, saying, "Our ... teams went in and helped with rescues and clearing debris so that we could get roads open and people get the help that they need."

She said that the emergency responders were unified in the disaster response, and that the federal government has been assisting the state government to look for those that are missing.

"I was surprised when I got there at the camp that day, right after this happened, the parents that were there, the parents that were looking for their children and picking up their daughter stuffed animals out of the mud, and finding their daughter's shoe that might be laying in the cabin. Just hugging and comforting people, matters a lot," Noem said.

"God created us to take care of each other, and that when we do that, we are happier, we are more fulfilled, and we can walk alongside people on their worst day and help them get through and come out the other side, knowing that we can, that we can continue to live a life that God has purposed for us," she added.
