A Seattle store manager disarmed a robbery suspect on Tuesday then ran-off with their gun, the suspect pleaded to the victim to return prior to leaving the scene before police arrived.
According to the Seattle Police Department, the suspect entered a convenience store on Denny Way around 1pm and stole $200 worth of merchandise. Upon leaving the store, the manager confronted the suspect outside. The suspect then reached for his firearm but the store owner karate-chopped it out of his hands, ultimately disarming him.
The victim quickly grabbed the suspect's gun and ran back into the store until police arrived. The suspect proceeded to follow the store owner and offered to trade the stolen items in exchange for his firearm, SPD reported.
The suspect fled when the victim dialed 911 but was located two hours later when Seattle police officers recoginized the suspect wearing the same clothes from surveillance footage, according to police documents.
The 23-year-old suspect was booked into King County Jail on charges that include robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm. The suspect is a convicted felon which makes it unable for him to possess firearms under state law.
