Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey wasn't pulling any punches Friday during an interview when she was talking about Americans who are unvaccinated.
In fact, that state has the lowest vaccination rate in the country with 38 percent of the population having received one dose and 31 percent being fully vaccinated.
"Folks are supposed to have common sense. But it's time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks, not the regular folks. It's the unvaccinated folks that are letting us down," the Alabama governor stated.
"Almost 100 percent of the new hospitalizations are with unvaccinated folks, And the deaths are certainly occurring with the unvaccinated folks," the state leader said. "These folks are choosing a horrible lifestyle of self-inflicted pain," she added.
According to NBC News, Dr. Brytney Cobia, who works at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama, agreed with the governor, stating on social media: "A few days later when I call time of death, I hug their family members and I tell them the best way to honor their loved one is to go get vaccinated and encourage everyone they know to do the same."
Referring to her unvaccinated patients that come to her with COVID-19, the doctor remarks: "One of the last things they do before they’re intubated is beg me for the vaccine. I hold their hand and tell them that I’m sorry, but it’s too late."
