A would-be Don Juan from Alaska had a very bad time when he set up a tryst with a Calgary woman in Banff ended up getting criminally charged and escorted out of town by the police, according to the National Post.

Banff would normally be a popular tourist destination at that time of year, and this isn’t the first time incidents involving people breaking the rules come to light, but this time, the man charged is facing up to six months in jail and potential fines of over half a million Canadian dollars. This is because he was officially charged with breaking the Quarantine Act.

This particular incident involves the Rimrock Resort Hotel in Banff, where the man in question had previously made reservations for two. He was able to successfully cross the border and check in at the hotel, but then apparently someone got suspicious about the Alaskan plates on his vehicle and called authorities, who in turn called hotel staff.

The as of yet unidentified gentleman was called in by hotel staff and asked to confirm that he was in compliance with the local laws regarding the quarantine. He didn’t have anything to say about the subject, and was then asked to pack his things and leave town.

It appears that the man then got in his vehicle with the also unidentified Calgary woman, and they were spotted by a citizen heading to the Banff Gondola. The police were called again at this point, and this is when the man was forcibly escorted out of Banff town limits, and formally charged. His court date is in November.

As of this date, it’s not clear if the man has actually left Canada.

Questions also remain as to how the man was able to get a hotel booking against the regulations, and how Canadian officials let him into the country in the first place in the light of the fact that he apparently had no way at all of proving that his travel was essential.
