A new poll has found that 48 percent of Canadians saw friends and families outside of their households over the Christmas season.
The web poll by Leger saw responses from 1506 Canadians and 1003 Americans. 52 percent of those surveyed said they did not see anyone outside their household, while 34 percent say they only say people once, and 12 percent say they saw people more than once.
Politicians on both sides of the border had pleaded with people to stay home and not have anyone over, to slow the spread of COVID-19. Of those who obeyed the politicians, 50 percent say they know of others who did not, while 48 percent say do not know anyone who violated the guidelines.
Canada recorded almost 10,000 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, which included over 3000 cases in Ontario, and over 2000 cases in Quebec.
The poll also found that Canadians are much more likely to get the COVID-19 vaccine than Americans, with 70 percent saying they will take it versus 53 percent in the United States.
Around 62 percent of respondents also say that they are satisfied with the measures put in place by the federal government to fight COVID-19 and help struggling businesses.
