Sayed Zeinullah Mousavi was charged with 1 count of a second-degree felony threat of terrorism, 3 counts of third-degree felony failure to respond to an officer's signal to stop, and 1 count of a class C misdemeanor driving on a suspended operator's license.
According to charging documents from authorities, Sayed Zeinullah Mousavi, 27, who was living in Sandy at the time of his arrest last week, drove away three times in a reported stolen car when police attempted to pull him over. When an officer was able to disable Mousavi's car and arrest the suspect, the charging documents say that he told police that he was going to "kill Americans" and "kill the USA."
Mousavi's inmate record for Salt Lake County jail does not yet list a country of citizenship or birth after being arrested on Oct. 31.
When officers searched his car, they found papers with notes that read, "Pressure Israel to cease fire with killing significant jews in Gaza. And lets take non hostage. Only soldiers/male government. Conduct assignation of leaders. Attack Military sites with most expensive bombs. Plant bombs inside Z-jets."
He also told officers repeatedly that he was going to purchase guns in order to "shoot up the Sandy Police Department" in Utah. Mousavi also told officers to keep track of the news for "two weeks to a month" if the cops did not think he was telling the truth about the threats.
"The Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office charged the defendant with one count of a second-degree felony threat of terrorism, three counts of third-degree felony failure to respond to an officer's signal to stop, and one count of a class C misdemeanor driving on a suspended operator's license. Charges against the defendant were filed on Friday, November 1, 2024," a press release about the charges stated.
