President-elect Donald Trump called out the Democrats for allegedly "paying" celebrities millions for endorsements of Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 campaign. He named Beyonce, Oprah Winfrey, and Al Sharpton as examples of figures he said were paid to endorse Harris for the presidency.

Trump posted on Truth Social, "Are the Democrats allowed to pay $11,000,000, $2,000,000, and $500,000 to get the ENDORSEMENT of Beyonce, Oprah, and Reverend Al? I don’t think so!"

"Beyoncé didn’t sing, Oprah didn’t do much of anything (she called it “expenses”), and Al is just a third rate Con Man. So what is going on here??? Totally against the law, and I have heard there are many others!!!" he added.

Beyonce's production company was paid at least $165,000 when she appeared at a Texas rally for the then-presidential candidate, giving an endorsement and minutes-long stump speech. However, she never performed at the time. Many fans attended the rally hoping for a performance.

Although payment for endorsements is legal, according to the fact-checking website Verify, the candidate must disclose the actual purpose of the expense. In the case of paying a celebrity for an endorsement, "trying to hide that payment could get a candidate in trouble."

Oprah was slammed online after it was revealed that the Harris campaign paid Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions $1 million after she hosted a town hall earlier this year with Harris. In addition, the vice president got a glowing endorsement from Winfrey at the time. The Harris campaign also paid $500,000 to Al Sharpton's nonprofit, as he was going to talk to her in a friendly interview.

Although a former advisor to Harris claimed last month that Harris never paid the celebrities for their endorsements, many have been skeptical of the purposes of the payments made out to the three well-known figures as well as others.
