Walter Shaub, the former director of the Office of Government Ethics under the Obama administration, stated on Twitter that President Joe Biden has not kept his promises regarding government ethics.
It appears that the main issue at hand is the Biden's administration's repeated hires of individuals who have close family and personal ties to Biden.
"I'm sorry, I know some folks don't like hearing any criticism of him. But this royally sucks. I'm disgusted. A lot of us worked hard to tee him up to restore ethics to government and believed the promises. This is a a real 'f— you' to us—and government ethics," Shaub wrote in the lengthy Twitter thread.
"Let's play a game. See if you can guess which one of these special assistants at the treasury department has a daddy who’s one of the top aides to the president. See if you can guess the economic background of this privileged white boy," he tweeted.
"Pathetic! The responses from people who spent four years complaining the other side was putting party over country are pathetic. They sound just like MAGAs. The jobs went to privileged kiddos with mommies and daddies who cozied up to POTUS," Shaub declared, expressing outrage Friday morning.
"Nepotism is illegal," Shaub quipped.
Shaub went on: "Do I sound bitter? HELL, YEAH, I'M BITTER! I'm the stupid moron who fell for his false promises."
"I wasn't naive enough to think he'd be a transformative president. He told us he'd be plain vanilla. But I thought there was momentum behind his ethics promises. Boy was I stupid," Shaub continues.
Shaub isn't the only person who has taken notice of the "privilege" of many of the personnel hired by the Biden administration for choice positions.
"Although Biden has vowed not to hire his own family, in the first few months of his presidency, at least five children of his top aides have secured coveted jobs in the new administration," previously reported the Washington Post.
The WaPo article cites two sons and a daughter of the White House counselor, the daughter of a deputy White House chief of staff, and the daughter of the director of presidential personnel. Other relatives of top Biden aides also have secured high-level administration jobs or nominations, including the wife of White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain and the sister of White House press secretary Jen Psaki.
