“No. When I hear that, first of all, I don’t believe it because I’ve never heard Donald Trump say anything truthful."

Biden-Harris administration Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo told ABC News that she "wasn't familiar" that the job growth estimate was revised and lowered by nearly one million for the 12-month period ending in March 2024. She also did not initially believe the statistic because she heard it from Donald Trump.

In a clip that went viral on Wednesday, Kayna Whitworth asked Raimondo what the commerce secretary thought about the drop of 818,000 jobs and asked if it would affect the Harris-Walz campaign. “I am curious as to your thoughts on today the Bureau of Labor saying that more than 800,000 fewer jobs were actually created than initially reported."

The reporter played a clip of Trump talking about the drop in the job estimates, to which Raimondo responded, “No. When I hear that, first of all, I don’t believe it because I’ve never heard Donald Trump say anything truthful."

“It is from the Bureau of Labor,” Whitworth said, correcting the commerce secretary.

“I’m not familiar with that,” Raimondo added, despite the numbers being widely reported on by the time the interview was being recorded at the Democratic National Convention (DNC). The Biden-Harris Commerce Secretary moved on to tout Harris' vision for the economy. Policy proposals the Democratic nominee has already made include a tax of 25 percent on wealthy individuals in America in addition to price controls.

From conservative to liberal media outlets, the price control policies were criticized, with a contributor on CNN comparing them to policies implemented in Soviet Russia and Venezuela.
