During a campaign speech in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, President Joe Biden mocked Donald Trump for being "busy" with the falsified documents case in New York City.

As he spoke about the state of the US economy, Biden made the mocking comment to the crowd.

“Under my predecessor, who’s a little busy right now," the president stated, "Pennsylvania lost 275,000 jobs."

Biden did not mention that lockdown policies and other state legislation had a heavy effect on the number of jobs that were lost towards the end of Trump's presidency.

In Pennsylvania, government lockdown measures such as suspended prison visits were used as late as January 2022, according to WFMZ. In August 2021, Penn State announced students and staff to mask up on campus while other red states had already dispensed with the measures on public college campuses.

Biden continued to tout job numbers in the state as well as job numbers overall in the country in the speech.

He continued on this tact and said that "wages are rising" in the country. Wages have risen at a higher rate than inflation over the course of the last year or so, but for about the first two years of the Biden presidency, inflation was far outpacing wages in terms of rate increase, according to Statista

This has left real wages from 2024 2.54 percent lower than they were in 2021, according to a report from Fox Business in April.

As the court case against Trump ramps up in coming weeks, it is expected to take up more of his time and interfere with the former president's campaign.

Trump will also not be allowed to leave the court to see his youngest son's graduation, or attend his Supreme Court hearing on his presidential immunity arguments in a separate case brought forth by special counsel Jack Smith.
