In his very first appearance from the White House press briefing room since taking office, President Biden informed reporters that Vice President Kamala Harris had been a "major player" in all the administration has done over the last four years. The Democratic president said he and Harris "sing from the same song sheet" and that the VP's staffers are "interlocked" with his. This was more than three years into his presidency and comes as he's already determined not to run for re-election. Harris is runnning in his place.

President Biden, who decided not to seek another term after a miserable June debate performance against Donald Trump, made the remarks while responding to a reporter's question about several current crises impacting the United States and the vice president's role in solving them. The reporter listed Hurricane Helene, the port strike, and the war in the Middle East as examples.

"Can you talk about how your vice president, who is running for the presidency, has worked on these crises and what role she has played over the past several days?" the reporter asked Biden.

Biden responded, "I'm in constant contact with her. We're singing from the same song sheet. She helped pass all the laws that are being employed now. She was a major player in everything we've done, including passage of legislation we were told we could never pass. And her staff is interlocked with mine in terms of all the things we're doing."

The president's appearance behind the podium surprised Americans on Friday as this was the first time Biden delivered remarks to the press from the White House James S. Brady press briefing room since assuming the role of president in 2021.

After Biden dropped out of the presidential race, American citizens have questioned what a potential Harris White House would entail as the vice president has given minimal interviews and had avoided the press since she was endorsed by the president. Republican lawmakers have maintained that a Harris presidency would be similar to Biden's, albeit more left-leaning, in which leaders have blamed both Biden and Harris equally for their controversial policies, such as open borders, extravagant foreign aid spending, and other economic issues that have fueled inflation.

Biden appeared to give clarity on a potential Harris administration, backing up some of the GOP's claims.
