President Joe Biden told reporters after the second assassination attempt on Donald Trump that the GOP nominee should be getting more Secret Service protection. This comes amid higher scrutiny of the government security agency after the first assassination attempt on the 45th president in July.

While talking to reporters after the second assassination attempt on Trump, Biden revealed his thoughts on the assassination attempt, saying that the Secret Service is not doing a good enough job since Trump was targeted.

"Thank God the president's okay. I think we've got a full report so far," Biden told the press. "The one thing I want to make clear: the Service needs more help. And I think the Congress should respond to their needs, if they in fact need more services. So that's what we're gonna be talking about."

A reporter asked in a follow-up question, "Do they need more personnel? Do they need more money? What kind of help do you think they need?"

Biden responded, "I think we need some more personnel. I think they may need- they may be deciding whether they need more personnel or not."

On Sunday, while the GOP nominee was playing a round of gold as his course in West Palm Beach, Florida, suspect Ryan Routh hid, waiting for around 12 hours in order to get into position, apparently targeting Trump. When Secret Service (USSS) saw him a couple holes ahead of the president, he had stuck the barrel of an AK-style rifle with a scope through a chain-link fence on the perimeter of the course.

After the comments from Biden were made after the second assassination attempt, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said that USSS protections for Trump have been enhanced to the level of protection that Biden has.

USSS fired several shots at Routh, causing him to flee, getting in a car and driving away. A citizen was able to snap a photo of the license plate on the car and hand the information over to law enforcement. Routh was later arrested in a neighboring county. On Monday, he laughed and smiled in his first court appearance where he was read off his charges.
