Biden's focus on legacy, light schedule 'signals' to rivals that no one is running the country: report

"This sends a signal to the world that there is no one in charge in the White House. Our allies wonder whether they can trust us. Our adversaries see this as a wide open window of opportunity, when they can exploit us without risk of consequences."

President Joe Biden’s seeming disappearance from the White House center stage since he announced he would not seek a second presidential term is having an adverse effect on America’s international image, critics say.

Biden's aides have reportedly developed a plan for his final months in office to focus on his “legacy” and keep Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris in the spotlight as she campaigns against former President Donald Trump, Politico reported.

"Biden has disappeared from view, Harris is campaigning full-time, and won’t meet with the press," former national security adviser K.T. McFarland told Fox News Digital.

"This sends a signal to the world that there is no one in charge in the White House," McFarland explained. "Our allies wonder whether they can trust us. Our adversaries see this as a wide open window of opportunity, when they can exploit us without risk of consequences."

"They know this window of opportunity will slam shut if Donald Trump is elected," McFarland argued. "We’re in a period of maximum vulnerability."

Biden recently confirmed that top Democrats like former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) pushed him out of the race. Since dropping out, Biden has made significantly fewer public appearances and sometimes doing days without being seen by the American people, with “Where is Joe Biden” trending on X after he hadn’t been seen in public for five days.

Biden has kept his public appearances to a minimum and his work schedule – already scant when he was running for the presidency – has further shrunken.

When White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked why Biden has not been communicating with the American people, she replied that the White House had issued two “Readouts” of presidential activity that same day and enigmatically said the administration is functioning in a “different time.”

Although Jean-Pierre continued about how concerned Biden is about promoting a cease-fire in the Gaza war, the conflict is on the verge of escalating into an Iran-Israel war and the US has moved an aircraft carrier and more troops into the region. Moreover, NATO and US involvement in the Russia-Ukraine war is increasing and Biden has made no attempts to clarify how far he is prepared to allow the escalation to go.

Meanwhile, the president and First Lady Jill Biden are making plans to visit New Orleans this week to promote the Biden Cancer Moonshot initiative that hopes to reduce cancer deaths by 50 percent before 2047, NOLA reported.

"President Biden is working hard and building on the most successful record of any modern administration by delivering more results for the American people," White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates told Fox News Digital.

But critics, citing an open border, massive inflationary spending, floundering green energy plans and the loss of American energy independence, wonder just what successful record the White House is referring to.
