"Our voices really do matter and the people matter and um f*ck ICE."
Billie Eilish is a pop star with a mission—and that mission is perpetually the latest thing. Standing on the Grammy stage accepting an award, she complained about federal immigration enforcement. "No one is illegal on stolen land," she said, and the crowd cheered. The camera panned to the earnest faces of celebrities in their feathered hats who all believed Eilish was brave for spouting the party line.
But the internet wasn't as generous to Eilish as her adoring colleagues. Instead, calls arose on social media for Eilish to put her mansion where her mouth is and give back her lavish land back to the Native American tribe—the Chumash—that once roamed Southern California, or to an illegal immigrant.
"It's really hard to know what to say and what to do right now and I just, I feel really hopeful in this room and I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting and our voices really do matter and the people matter and um f*ck ICE." The crowd went wild.
"She bought a mansion on stolen land, that means send a bus of illegals to her mansion. Do it," said Damon Imani.
Joei Catalina said "It's stolen land. She needs to give it back to It's rightful owners. Not sold, simply handed over. Whoever sold it to her had no right to sell stolen land. By her standard."
"What about if we all showed up to her mansion and said we are going to live there now? It’s stolen land right? She doesn’t own it…" said another.
Still another pointed out that "Billie Eilish has a restraining order against a man who illegally entered her home."
Eilish reportedly has multiple multi-million dollar homes in Southern California, from a mansion to a Malibu beach house. She's made headlines as a big philanthropist, but her recent $11.5 million donation for climate change and other causes was with funds gained from a surcharge on special "Changemaker" tickets where patrons could pay more to have a portion of those funds go to the Eilish-selected causes.
Eilish is always on the cutting edge of the latest protest trend, she may even think of herself as a bit of a revolutionary. A wealthy songstress who bought her first mansion when she was just 17-years-old, Eilish has spoken out about climate change, BLM, being queer (she's into girls but has never "really felt like" one), the Palestinian cause, and now she's for open borders. It's a cornucopia of contemporary causes du jour.
In May 2020, just days after George Floyd's Minneapolis death, Eilish said "If I hear one more white person say 'all lives matter' one more f*cking time I'm gonna lose my f*cking mind. Will you shut the f*ck uuuuuuuuup????" She complained that all these "mfs" were making Floyd's death about themselves.
"You are not in need," she told white people, "you are not in danger." She told them "you are privileged whether you like it or not. Society gives you privilege just for being white." She acknowledged that there are poor white people, but said they have "skin color" privilege.
"If all lives matter why are black people killed just for being black? Why are immigrants persecuted? Why are white people given opportunities that people of other races aren't? Why is it okay for white people to protest literally being asked to stay at home while carrying semi-automatic weapons? Why is it okay for black people to be called thugs for protesting the murder of innocent people? Do you know why????
"White. F*cking. Privilege." She wrote.
To say that Eilish is misinformed would be an understatement. At least twice as many white people are killed by police in America than black people. Illegal immigrants are arrested for committing crimes and for being illegally in the US, which is a crime no matter what Don Lemon says.
Both white and Asian people were shut out of Harvard admissions and the admissions of other Ivy League schools that prioritized minority races over merit—there was a whole Supreme Court case about it. The "white people" she was talking about who protested against lockdowns were, in many cases, arrested. The people who were called "thugs" for "protesting" were actually called thugs for looting, destroying property, and burning things down.
But this is all still the Eilish M.O. Speak out about causes you know very little about, encourage others to put their lives and livelihoods on the line for those causes, and believe that it's your voice—and not your actions—that "really matters."
