During a city council meeting in Dearborn, Michigan on Tuesday, a local preacher unloaded on city leaders, accusing them of operating under Sharia law. Dearborn has the highest percentage of Muslim residents of any city in the nation.

Lorenzo Sewell, the pastor of 180 Church, said, “America, we have lost this city. This is a city that is no longer up under American laws; we are up under Sharia law. We will not have it anymore. Enough is enough.”

“We are not a nation of Muslims, we are a nation of Christians. We are one nation under God, indivisible. The God of the Bible, the God of the Lord Jesus Christ, that’s the God in whom we serve,” he said.

Sewell referenced the case in which anti-Islamic activist Jake Lang was attacked by Muslim counterprotesters, alleging that the counterprotesters had not suffered adequate consequences for their actions. “You are not up under American law. You are up under Sharia law. That is the reason why you have made no arrests,” he said.

Earlier in the month, Lang protested Dearborn’s Arbaeen March, being chased by counterprotesters, with at least one trying to hit him with a rock, per Fox News. Police arrested one of the assailants and have asked the public for assistance in identifying others involved.

City officials pushed back on the idea that Muslim residents are being treated differently than others in the city, with Mayor Abdullah Hammoud saying in the meeting, “When people portray Dearborn as some place that has been overtaken by Muslims, they aren’t simply attacking our Muslim and Arab communities. They’re also trying to erase our Christian brothers and sisters who have contributed immeasurably to the city and folks of other faiths.”

"Ultimately, they’re attacking something much larger than any one faith or community. They are attacking the idea that all of us can belong to America at the same time,” he added.
