New polling has revealed that Donald Trump’s support among black Americans has more than doubled since the 2020 election. According to a CNN average of polls, Trump’s support among black voters is 22 percent so far in the 2024 election cycle, up from 9 percent at this point during the 2020 cycle.

Biden’s support, on the other hand, has plummeted, going from 81 percent at this point in the 2020 election cycle to 69 percent in the 2024 election cycle. A CNN correspondent called the margin between the two candidates "historic" and potentially the "best performance for a Republican candidate among black voters" since the 1960s.

"This could be a truly historic margin that’s quite a troubling sign for the Biden campaign," he added. The polling average comes as a set of polls conducted in swing states showed that Trump is leading in most wing states, being helped by a surge of support among young, black, and Hispanic voters.

To try to help his hemorrhaging numbers, Biden has indefinitely postponed his menthol cigarette ban, with many black leaders criticizing the ban as a racially motivated effort, as surveys have shown that over 80 percent of black smokers use menthols.

Biden also has planned a string of events to mark the anniversary of the Brown v Board of Education case, with visits to Martin Luther King Jr’s alma mater Morehouse College to deliver the graduating class’ commencement speech and will deliver remarks at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, according to CNN.
