“They hired somebody to do an impression of my voice on the show which is hilarious."
Appearing on Timcast, Johnston recounted how close friends in Hollywood reported him to the FBI and how he lost all of his jobs immediately following January 6. Johnston claimed that one person he had worked with for decades spent hours on the phone with the FBI, turned over text messages, and even reached out to him on the day of January 6 trying to obtain more information to give to the authorities.
After the FBI posted a photo showing him at the Capitol, Johnston said he was fired without notice.
“I called my agent to say, ‘Well, I think I got fired from Bob’s Burgers and I don’t know ‘cause nobody called me. Is this true?’ And my agent was basically like ‘Well we don’t know about that but we’re firing you,’” he recounted.
“They hired somebody to do an impression of my voice on the show which is hilarious,” he explained. “It’s pretty good,” he added. Johnston noted that none of the colleagues he had worked alongside for years reached out to him after his firing.
Best known for roles in Bob’s Burgers, Anchorman, and Arrested Development, Johnston was arrested in June 2023 and pleaded guilty to a felony count of obstructing officers. After federal prosecutors sought an 18-month sentence, he was sentenced to 12 months and one day in federal prison last October.
When President Donald Trump took office last month, Johnston was one of the people present on January 6 who received a pardon. His fiancé, Sara Radovanovitch, confirmed in a post on X on Inauguration Day that Johnston had been pardoned.
