Bodycam footage from a separate police stop on the morning of November 13 shows several people passing the officers, just a few doors down from the house where four University of Idaho students were brutally murdered, at approximately the same time as authorities suspect the murders to have taken place.
In the early hours of the morning, plain-clothed police officers stopped a group of students for suspected underage drinking, the Daily Mail reports.
The bodycam footage from one of the officers that captured the police stop showed several people scurrying past police in the background, just two doors down from the crime scene.
The clue was highlighted by internet sleuth and true crime vlogger Olivia Vitale, who spoke to Fox News about the potential for this revelation to shed some light on the events of the night surrounding the murders.
"Between the people with law enforcement and the people in the background of the bodycam footage, that is about half a dozen people," Vitale said. "The importance is they may have witnessed something unbeknownst to them."
After one month, there is still very little known about the murders, and police don't appear to have any leads on a suspect. Moscow police have called on the public to provide any tips thay may have, which has led to the proliferation of misinformation around the incident as every internet sleuth tries to solve the case.
Ethan Chapin, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, all students at the University of Idaho, were found brutally stabbed to death in their beds last month.
It remains unknown whether police have followed up on the tip, or even if they had already ruled it out. Officials had previously said that they had found nothing of value in the bodycam videos.
Police have revealed that the killer was sloppy, leaving behind a "mess of evidence" that's "going to take a lot of time to process."
