There were multiple bomb threats made on Friday at Virginia colleges, the day after a shooting took place at Old Dominion University which resulted in the death of a professor at the school. The bomb threats did not appear to be credible and were made against the University of Virginia (UVA), George Mason, and Bridgewater College.

The colleges made various statements on social media indicating that they had been the target of the bomb threats. George Mason University stated, "The Fenwick Library on the @GeorgeMasonU Fairfax campus is closed until further notice to allow University Police to investigate a potential bomb threat. Please leave the Fenwick Library and stay away from the area."

"This threat has not been confirmed. An investigation is being conducted out of an abundance of caution and in the interest of public safety. Please follow the direction of law enforcement and/or emergency personnel. More information will be provided once it is available," the college added in a post to X.

UVA said in a post on X after a bomb threat had been made against the school, "BOMB THREAT cleared. No device found. Shannon and Clemons Libraries are returning to normal operations. You may resume normal activity. No further updates."

Bridgewater College issued a bomb threat warning at 12:47 pm, but it was then cleared at 2 pm. "Bomb threat cleared. No device found. The FLC is returning to normal operations. Classes and activities can continue," the school said on its website.

The shooting at Old Dominion was perpetrated by Mohamed Jalloh, who was also previously convicted of providing material support to ISIS. Lt. Col. Brandon Shah, a professor of Military Science as well as the head of the ROTC program at Old Dominion University, was killed in the shooting before Jalloh was stabbed to death by a student on the scene, stopping more death from taking place.
