On Thursday night, a robber was shot in the face by a 14-year-old working in a family-owned business in Philadelphia. He survived, but is currently in critical condition.

The attack occurred at Bold Pizza in the neighborhood of Spring Garden just before 10pm at night.

The teen, who was later to act, was behind his mother, who was suddenly accosted by a group of masked men, who demanded that the mother give them the money in the cash register. She told him that she couldn't open the register at that hour, as it was locked with a code she didn't have access to.

At this point, one of the assailants reached over the counter and began assaulting the mother. That's when the boy sprang into action.

The boy can be seen in the video struggling; it appears that he was trying to free the gun from a holster in which it was stored.

He finally produced the handgun and fired a single shot at the masked man, hitting him squarely in the head. The man immediately collapsed on the counter, completely immobilized.

The search for the other two suspects is still in progress. Local authorities, according to local outlet NBC10, believe that the same three assailants may have been responsible for another robbery that took place just before the assailants entered Bold Pizza, two blocks away.

Crimes like these continue to become more and more prevalent from one end of the US to the other.
