The official also confirmed that four people were killed and nine people were transported to the hospital with injuries. Of those who were killed, two were students and two were adults.
In a press conference on Wednesday, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation revealed that the suspect in the Apalachee High School shooting in Georgia earlier that morning was a 14-year-old student of the school.
The suspect, named Colt Gray, was taken into custody. Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Chris Hosey said that Gray will be charged with murder and tried as an adult.

Gray, Hosey said, opened fire shortly before 10:30 am at the Winder, Georgia school. He surrendered to police when confronted by a school resource officer.
Dallas LeDuff, the superintendent of Barrow County’s school system, said that all schools would be closed for the remainder of the week, according to the New York Times.
According to CBS News, two people were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Barrow with gunshot injuries, and another gunshot victim was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville. A spokesperson said that all three had injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Additional patients came into the hospital system with anxiety symptoms and panic attacks.
