Editor's note: Police had initially identified the fatality as a 16-year-old, but that was later updated by police to be 21.
A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed and two others were injured and hospitalized after a daytime shooting in downtown Toronto on Tuesday.
Toronto police say that the shooting occurred at the corner of King and Blue Jays Way at around 4 pm. Police Chief Mark Sanders calls the shooting "very brazen" according to CP24.
Sanders later confirmed that the 16-year-old has passed away.
CP24 reports that one "witness said he heard around six to 10 gunshot sounds before police descended on the area."
“It turns out the suspect vehicle, based on the evidence we have right now was waiting for about forty minutes for the occupants of another vehicle to arrive to their vehicle ...When they did, the suspect vehicle made a U-turn, came out, and started firing at this group of individuals,” Sanders said.
The suspect is thought to be driving a blue Volkswagen Tiguan and was heading southbound on Blue Jays Way after the incident.
Police remain at the scene. Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact Toronto police.
