BREAKING UPDATE: A civilian, a police officer and a suspect are dead following shootings in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood on Monday, June 22, 2026, according to Montreal police (SPVM). A second police officer was injured in the incident and is in stable condition.

Police had said they were searching for a possible second suspect. Officers on the scene confirmed the search was ongoing as of 2:45 pm. During a press conference at 3:15 pm, SPVM Chief of Police Fady Dagher said that the searches were out of an abundance of caution and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The alert was issued around 12:30 p.m. and advised residents in the affected zone to shelter indoors due to an “armed and dangerous suspect.” Dagher said that by the time the alert went out to the public, that the suspect was already dead.

“If you are in the affected area, shelter indoors, lock the doors, stay away from windows and follow instructions of local authorities,” the alert stated.

The affected perimeter was by Côte-des-Neiges Rd., MacDonald St., Highway 40 and Queen Mary Rd. Access to Décarie southbound is closed from Highway 40.

Witnesses had reported seeing two gunmen wearing “military”-style clothing, according to accounts provided at the scene.  The identities of those killed and injured have not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
