Matthew Raymond, the man who killed four people in Fredericton back in 2018 has been found not criminally responsible by the jury due to his mental health conditions, CP24 Reports.

Raymond’s family members hugged each other and cried following the announcement of the verdict. That verdict was reached after three days of deliberation by an 11-member jury.

Tears came out of Raymond as he heard the decision, he bowed his head but said nothing. The defense had admitted that Raymond murdered the victims, but insisted that his mental disorder prevented him from understanding the nature of his actions.

While crown prosecutors were aware of Raymond’s mental illness, they said that the delusions he experienced did not make him unable to understand that his actions were wrong.
