The majority of those sentenced had accepted plea agreements.
Seven members of a North Texas Antifa cell were sentenced in federal court on Wednesday, with sentences ranging from just under two years up to 50 years in prison. The majority of those sentenced had accepted plea agreements. The cases stem from an attack on the Prairieland ICE Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas that took place on July 4, 2025, in which a police officer was shot.
Ines Houston Soto was sentenced to 50 years in prison; Rebecca Deyalyn Morgan and Joy Abigail Gibson—a transgender nonbinary female also known as "Rowan”—were sentenced to 15 years, John Philip Thomas and Lynette Read Sharp were sentenced to nine years, Seth Edison Sikes was sentenced to six years and 10 months, and Nathan Josiah Baumann was sentenced to 22 months, per reporting from Andy Ngo.
Soto had not accepted a plea agreement. Baumann will be required to serve one year of supervised release, while the remaining defendants will serve two years. An eighth member, Susan Elaine Kent, was set to be sentenced alongside the others, however, her court date has been pushed back one week.
In a March trial, Soto was convicted of providing material support to terrorists, conspiracy to use and carry an explosive, using and carrying an explosive, and rioting. The remaining six pleaded guilty to providing material support to terrorists. They each signed factual stipulations admitting that they had participated in supporting the July 4 attack and organized behind an Antifa ideology. Five of the defendants also testified against their group members during a trial that took place earlier in 2026 and cooperated with federal prosecutors.
Soto is the spouse of Elizabeth Soto, who was part of a group of Antifa members who had been sentenced on June 23 for their involvement in the attack. Elizabeth Soto received 50 years in prison. Also sentenced in the June hearing was Ringleader Benjamin Hanil Song, with US District Judge Mark T Pittman sentencing him to 100 years. Gibson is the romantic partner of Song.
Ngo reported that ahead of the sentencing, Morgan reportedly attempted to injure or kill herself while in custody in Wichita, Texas. A source said that Morgan had consumed pills.
