BREAKING: Clancy copycat Corie Walsh pleads NOT GUILTY to murder of her 2-year-old son

The Illinois mother accused of murdering her 2-year-old son has pleaded not guilty. Some have compared the incident to the Lindsay Clancy case, in which the Massachusetts mother admitted to killing her three children, with her defense saying she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.

Corrie Walsh, 38, entered the plea on September 24, per News 34. She has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the case. She is accused of hanging her son from the rafters, and authorities have reported that when she was arrested, she believed that her son was the "anti-Christ."

Walsh was arrested following the death on September 1, where her 2-year-old son, Barrett Walsh, was found lifeless hanging by the rafters in the basement by a neighbor after the other kids in the house went to get help. The neighbor attempted CPR before officers arrived. The child was then taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Walsh was found with a knife a bathtub full of bloody water after she had cut her wrists and thighs in an apparent suicide attempt. Walsh's 8-month-old son was upstairs unsupervised. Prosecutors have also said that Walsh had a plan to poison her husband and had believed that she had killed all of her children.

Defense attorneys for Walsh have maintained that she was suffering a psychotic break when the incident took place. Corie Walsh had been texting her friends about the nature of the Lindsay Clancy case deliberations, which were taking place right before Barrett was killed.

Friends said that the texts were "confusing" and "out of character" for Walsh.

An obituary for Barrett "Bear" Walsh that was posted on September 23 read, "Bear will always be remembered as a joyful, funny, entertaining, rambunctious 2-year-old who loved singing and dancing to Super Simple Songs and Miss Rachel, learning his colors with Pingfong and Hogi, kicking a soccer ball with his friends and counting out loud to 5 Little Duckies."
