BREAKING: Dallas mall shooting suspect identified by police

The suspect in the mass shooting that occurred at Allen Premium Outlets in Texas on Saturday has been identified as 33-year-old Mauricio Martinez Garcia of Dallas, Texas, Fox News reports.

Mauricio Martinez Garcia allegedly killed 8 people and injured several in a mass shooting at Allen Premium Outlets in Texas on Saturday afternoon. The ages and identities of the victims have not yet been released. Four of the injured victims are stable and three are in critical condition. Seven died at the scene, and one later succumbed to injuries. Garcia was "neutralized" at the scene.



Police chief Brian Harvey said at a press conference Saturday night that an officer was nearby at 3:36 pm on an unrelated call when gunshots rang out at the shopping center.

According to law enforcement, the officer "engaged the suspect and neutralized the threat."

Garcia allegedly belonged to the Texas prison gang, "Tango Blast", and lived with his parents who requested a translator when authorities searched their Dallas residence early Sunday morning.

Videos of the deceased gunman revealed a tattoo on his hand with the gang affiliated symbol and some on Twitter identified the gunman as Hispanic.





According to WFAA, a multi-agency task force conducted of the FBI and the Dallas Police Department searched the home of Mauricio Martinez Garcia who lived with his parents at their Dallas residence early Sunday morning.

WFAA reports that the alleged gunman's parents requested a translator.

Neighbors told the outlet that suspected mass shooter had not been seen at the residence in the last few weeks. They said his gray Dodge Charger was always parked in front of the home.

According to the outlet, neighbors described the alleged suspect as "quiet" but exhibited "certain unusual behaviors."

A Medical City Healthcare spokesperson told FOX 4 Dallas that their facilities treated eight victims between the ages of 5 and 61.
