The allegation resurfaced from a batch of documents released by House Republicans several years ago.
In those emails, Epstein exchanged short messages with modeling executive Faith Kates on Thanksgiving 2017. When asked “who else is down there,” Epstein replied with a string of names—including “david fizel,” “hanson,” and “trump.”
It was reported at the time that the emails didn’t show Epstein was physically with any of those people—only that he listed them. Trump, meanwhile, was publicly documented spending Thanksgiving Day at Mar-a-Lago.
Trump has responded to the recent focus on Epstein material by posting to Truth Social on Wednesday: “Only a very bad, or stupid, Republican would fall into that trap. The Democrats cost our Country $1.5 Trillion Dollars with their recent antics of viciously closing our Country, while at the same time putting many at risk—and they should pay a fair price. There should be no deflections to Epstein or anything else, and any Republicans involved should be focused only on opening up our Country, and fixing the massive damage caused by the Democrats!"
It all kicked off on Wednesday after Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released emails obtained from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate. In a public statement, committee Democrats said the documents “raise serious questions about Donald Trump and his knowledge of Epstein’s horrific crimes.” One message included Epstein claiming that Trump “knew about the girls” and had spent “hours at my house.”
An unredacted version of the same exchange identified the “unnamed victim” referenced in the email as Virginia Giuffre. Giuffre has consistently stated that Trump was not involved in any wrongdoing and has described their limited interactions as not problematic.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt responded by accusing Democrats of pushing a distorted narrative. “The Democrats selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump,” she said, noting that Giuffre herself repeatedly cleared Trump of any misconduct.
According to the committee, the newly released messages are part of a larger tranche of thousands of records dating from after Epstein’s 2008 plea agreement in Florida, when federal prosecutors declined to bring additional charges.
