During the hearing where the decision was made, Kirk's attorney urged the judge to make a speedy trial. The next hearing is set to take place on October 23 in the case.
Student leaders from Turning Point USA in Utah and employees of the organization showed up to support Kirk at the hearing on Tuesday. Caleb Chilcutt, the TPUSA Beehive Field representative and former UVU TPUSA president, posted to X, "Erika, you are so loved in Utah. Thank you for your constant display of courage. The Utah youth stands with the Kirk family."
Chilcutt was seen with other students by the courthouse on Tuesday.
Charlie Kirk's family members were seen leaving the courthouse after the ruling from the judge came down, deciding that Robinson would stand trial.
Robinson has been charged with the murder of Charlie Kirk after the TPUSA founder was shot in the neck on Utah Valley University campus while speaking to college students. DNA evidence as well as multiple confessions from Robinson link him to the assassination as the primary suspect.
During the hearing before Graf made the ruling, Robinson's attorney claimed that Kirk, before he was assassinated "spoke hatefully" against those that are LGBTQ while he argued in defense of Robinson.
Erika Kirk's attorney however, responded to this line and said that Charlie was the "opposite of hate," and added that "firing a bullet into a crowd and assassinating him, that is hate."
